What Ideal Spark does

Ideal Spark is a real-time dispatch service for electrical emergencies, not a directory. Tell us what’s wrong and where you are, and the platform automatically matches you with the nearest available, verified electrician who can actually take the job right now — ranked on distance, estimated arrival time, reliability and verification status, not just who bid the lowest price. You see an estimated arrival time and call-out cost before you commit to anything.

How verification works

Every electrician submits identity, business registration, public liability insurance, trade qualifications and competent-person scheme membership documents for review before they can receive job offers. An expiring or lapsed document is never quietly ignored — it’s checked on every read, not just when it’s first approved, and an electrician stops receiving new offers the moment any one of the five categories falls out of date. Their public profile shows the current state of each category honestly, including when something has expired.

How matching and pricing work

Matching weighs distance, estimated arrival time, reliability history, qualifications for the specific problem, and verification status — price is deliberately not part of the ranking, only ever shown for comparison. Every electrician sets their own call-out fee, shown upfront; once they’ve diagnosed the problem in person, you get a full itemised quote to approve before any repair work starts, and you’re never charged more than the call-out fee if you decline it.

What’s genuinely real here, and what isn’t

The matching, dispatch, verification, quoting, dispute-resolution and scoring logic are all real, working code — not a mockup. What’s deliberately simulated, because this is a prototype and not a live service: payments (no real card is ever charged), electrician location (a stylised map, not live GPS), and message delivery (email/SMS/WhatsApp notifications are logged, not actually sent). Nothing here should be relied on for an actual electrical emergency — if you have one, call a real, qualified electrician, and call 999 first if there’s any immediate danger.
